1997

The VEL TECH ENGINEERING COLLEGE begun at Avadi, Alamathi road, chennai-62 with 4 departmens involving 413 students and 10 staffs.

1998

Shri Vel's Estate Elementary school was upgraded into Shri Vel's Matriculation school. Two more colleges VEL TECH POLYTECHNIC and VEL SRI RANGA SANKU COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE were begun.With continuous hard work and effort of staff, students and management , the institutions strength grew to 785 . To encourage and recognise the students performance 57 gold rings and 4 gold medals were distributed to the students holding top percentages.

1999

Our Institution extended their branch in Medical field also by starting the MEDICAL COLEGE OF PHYSIOTHERAPHY AND NURSING. Now the students strength was increased to 1406 , Furrther 277 gold rings and 27 Gold Medals were distributed. For the benefit of the students an Auditorium was constructed which holds upto 300 people named as VEL MURUGAN AUDITORIUM at Vel Tech Engineering College.

2000

Our Institution established another college named VEL SRI RANGARAJAN SAKUNTHALA COLLEGE OF MULTIMEDIA.The students strength was increased to 2405 , Furrther 722 gold rings and 41 Gold Medals were distributed. The VIJAYA BANK EXTENSION COUNTER was opened

2001

VEL RANGARAJAN SAKUNTHALA COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE was begun.The students strength was increased to 3114 , Furrther 312 gold rings and 30 Gold Medals were distributed.

2002

VEL SRI RANGARAJAN SAKUNTHALA COLLEGE OF HIGHTECH ENGINEERING COLLEGE was begun.
Ms.Leelavathi,VT 265 ,Student belonging to ECE branch of Vel Tech Engineerig College achieved the 10th Rank awarded by University of Madras in the April 2002 Examination.
Mr.M.Sridhar Babu,VP 623 ,Student belonging to IT branch of Vel Tech Polytechnic College achieved the 5th State Rank in the April 2002 Examination.
An Remarkable achievement of the Institution that it got ISO 9001 : 2000 CERTIFICATION for Vel Tech Engineering Colege and Vel Sri Rangarajan Sakunthala College Of Multimedia
We got the CII MEMBERSHIP.
The students strength was increased to 4056, Furrther 1102 gold rings and 105 Gold Medals were distributed.
First Health Exhibition was conducted for 2 days in the date of March 28 and 29 of 2002.
First Engineering Project Exhibition was conducted .
Inaugurated two temples VEL PANCHAMUCKHA VINAYAGAR TEMPLE and ARUMUGA SKANDA TEMPLE inside the campus.
For the welfare of students and to develop their skils in sports , FLOOD LIGHT BASKET BAL COURT was constructed.
LORD BALAJI HALL OF MUSIC was constructed.
DR.A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM SEMINAR HALL was construced which can hold upto 250 students.
For the welfare of school students ANNAI ARANGAM was constructed which can hold upto 100 students.
Students of M.C.A. Proved the colege stuff by scoring 92% pass percentage .
We Installed D-LINK FASTEST NETWORKS on April 24,2002.
To ensure effctive placements a PROJECT PLACEMENT TRAINING OFFICE was opened.

VEL RANAGARAJAN AND DR.SAKUNTHALA RESEARCH FOUNDATION for Medicine and Technology was begun
Ms.K.Chitralekha,VT 423,Student belonging to IT branch of Vel Tech Engineerig College achieved the 2ND Rank awarded by University of Madras in the April 2003 Examination.
Ms.R.Yamuna,VT 676,Student belonging to E&I branch of Vel Tech Engineerig College achieved the 6TH Rank awarded by University of Madras in the April 2003 Examination.
Ms.B.Balaji,VT 673,Student belonging to E&I branch of Vel Tech Engineerig College achieved the 14TH Rank awarded by University of Madras in the April 2003 Examination.

Our Institution step into a new project by starting a research centre named VEL RANGARAJAN AND DR.SAKUNTHALA RESEARCH FOUNDATION FOR MEDICINE AND TECHNOLOGY.
